  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 8

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  • Caramel sauce (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a saucepan, melt sugar over medium heat until golden brown, then pour into a baking dish to form the caramel layer.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and sugar. Add melted butter and eggs; mix until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, blend sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla until creamy.
  4. Pour the chocolate batter over the cooled caramel layer, followed by the flan mixture on top—do not mix.
  5. Place the baking dish in a larger dish filled with hot water (water bath). Bake for 60-70 minutes or until set.
  6. Let cool completely before refrigerating for at least 4 hours. Once chilled, flip onto a plate to reveal beautiful layers.
